AMPL test items were selected from the UIS Global Item Bank, which consisted of items from a range of sources, including 300 mathematics and 300 reading items provided by the Global Education Monitoring (GEM) Centre. AMPL-b tests were developed in the Monitoring Learning Outcomes (MILO<\/a>) project to measure learning outcomes at the end of primary education. AMPL-a and AMPL-c, also known as the PISA modules, are under development and will measure learning outcomes at the end of lower primary education and end of lower secondary education respectively.<\/p>\n Standalone assessment: <\/b>AMPL can be administered as a standalone assessment where countries or regions administer AMPL items in the place of their national or regional assessments. AMPL-b has been administered as standalone assessment in Sierra Leone and Pakistan.<\/p>\n Integrate into an assessment:<\/b> AMPL can be integrated into national or regional assessments by administering the items as an independent assessment booklet or by using rotated booklets whereby a large number of AMPL items are grouped into different assessment booklets and then administered to students in a manner where no individual student is tested on all the AMPL items. AMPL-b was integrated into PASEC with Burkina Faso, Senegal, Burundi, Ivory Coast as participating countries.
